What is Botox?Made from a drug called Botulinum Toxin, BOTOX® injections relax the muscle to stop lines and wrinkles forming. We target only the small, specific muscles responsible for unwanted lines and wrinkles, meaning your normal facial expressions will remain unaffected. Administered correctly by a medical practitioner they can subtly smooth and soften the skin, restoring a youthful complexion.

Does it hurt?Everyone’s pain tolerance is different. Like most injections it can be slightly painful however we can offer you a topical anaesthetic cream which can be used prior to treatment to minimise any discomfort.

When will I start to see results?Again, everyone is different. Some people start to see a difference the very same day or following morning, however Botox can take 1 – 3 weeks for you to see it’s full effect. So if you’re having it for a special occasion you’ll need to bear this in mind.

Botox - Is there any down time?Not at all, you could have Botox in your lunchbreak and be back at your desk in the afternoon with your work colleagues none the wiser! Some people can get some redness or minor bruising, however, we can offer you a neutral antiseptic makeup option to cover this up should you require it.

How long does it last?Well again, this all depends on many factors however as a general rule most treatments last for 3 – 6 months.

Will I need to do anything special after my treatment?No, we recommend you don’t work up a sweat within the first 48 hours whilst the Botox has time to take effect. What a shame, you’ll have to put your feet up! ;)

So what exactly happens during my treatment?Following your consultation with Rachel you may be given some topical anaesthetic cream if you anticipate pain to be an issue for you. This can be applied 10 minutes to half an hour before your treatment. This will help to numb the area in preparation for your treatment. Rachel will then disinfect the area to be treated, may mark up the area and will then administer the Botox in as many injections as needed. Don’t worry, Rachel will keep you informed all the way through the treatment so you are comfortable.

What is a dermal filler and which ones do you use?Fillers are injectable gels based on a substance called hyaluronic acid which occurs naturally in the skin. They offer aesthetic healthcare professionals a way to assist in replenishing and restoring lost hyaluronic acid deep within the skin which can help you achieve a more youthful look. At Younger Looking Skin we only use extremely high quality products produced by Juvéderm® and Restylane®. Which product or combination of products would be best for your treatment will be defined by Rachel during your free consultation where you can discuss your concerns and a treatment plan.

What's Juvéderm®Juvéderm® is made from biocompatible, biodegradable materials and contains Hyaluronic Acid, which replaces the naturally existing substance in your skin that repairs damaged tissue. There are different types of Juvéderm® and we'll discuss with you which one will be the best for you during consultation.

What areas can be treated with filler?Many areas can be treated with dermal fillers with fantastic results. Having an in depth consultation with Rachel will ensure you’re in the know about what areas can be treated and what you can expect to see from your treatment. Fillers are able to subtly reshape and redefines lips and facial contours, can restore lost volume in cheeks and chin for a gentle lifting effect. Wrinkle filler treatments can reduce or smooth facial lines, wrinkles and folds for a fresher, brighter look. The possibilities really are endless.

Does it hurt?Everyone’s pain threshold is different and can fluctuate. Like most injections it can be slightly painful however we can offer you a topical anaesthetic cream which can be used prior to treatment to minimise any discomfort. The smooth consistency of the products that we use able us to administer them easily and smoothly. They also contain 0.3% Lidocaine to reduce injection pain for a more comfortable experience.

Is there any downtime if I have filler?With all filler treatments there ican be some swelling in the area where it’s been administered. Following a filler injection, you may experience slight redness, swelling, or even bruising at the injected area. These effects should not last for more than a week. Remember, 12 hours after your procedure you can cover up any skin discoloration with makeup.

What should I do after my treatment?Rachel will advise you on your aftercare. You may be advised to stop wearing makeup for up to 12 hours. You may also be told to avoid the sun, as well as saunas and steam rooms, for 2 weeks. Some people experience a little temporary tenderness, swelling or bruising around the injection sites. It is also recommended that you avoid additional treatments in the treated area for the next 7 days.

When will I start to see results?With filler treatments an improvement can be seen immediately however, there is often some swelling in the area which will subside over the few days following your treatment.

How long does it last?Depending on skin type and the area treated, treatments can last up to 12 - 18 months but it varies.
